Classy, elegant, chic and sporty aren't words you might normally associate with a 4x4 - and you would be exceedingly unlikely to use them all at once to describe the  identical 4x4. That's until the advent of Volvo Car Reviews 2015.

Considering bringing the utilitarian off-roader to the family entertainment marketplace, auto makers have striven to design it and tailor it to give  the broadest appeal, with varying degrees of success. Some attempt a 4x4/MPV cross, but others go for a more laidback SUV picture. There has been an attempt with a superior car manufacturer at trying to turn its large SUV to a sleek sports coupe, using notably unsleek, nay, grotesque, results!

Unlike many SUVs, VOLVO manages to retain, and even improve, the svelte lines and subtle contours of its lightweight saloon and real estate brethren.  In actuality, if you lowered an XC60 to create it adopt a road-hugging position, then it would definitely appear as a rather rakish property. Volvo calls it"emotional" styling.

Cabin Comfort

You would not oppose the VOLVO's interior of being overdone. It's fresh, modem, stylish and, above all, simple. The all-anthracite lower-half trim of our evaluation example might appear dull and oppressive in some cars, but using more to lift it compared to white contrast stitching and environmentally applied bright moldings, the Volvo manages a feeling of clever viability. You would expect nothing less from Swedish style.

undoubtedly Volvo's now well known'floating' centre console, in this instance having a glowing metallic finish.  It presents a range of logically-arranged along with clearly-marked controllers - the human-shaped air-distribution graphic being a particular case in point - which become nearly instinctive at first glance. Above this and the CD slot resides the transparent sat-nav display, somewhat inset to decrease reflections from the window glass  found on the  identical|identical} plane as the tools where a quick glimpse enables instantaneous visual clarity without refocusing.

Gauges - only the two - convey the crucial details via annular analogue dials and (that phrase again)'drifting' pointers with digital supplemental information displayed in their centres|centres|facilities}. They've a chronographic appearance  for  them, but Volvo has thankfully resisted the usually Far-Eastern car manufacturers' tendency to decorate them with too much bling and fancy illumination.

In authentic Volvo convention, the seats are well-shaped, supportive and comfortable using those in the front providing a helpful assortment of adjustment. The back compartment boasts sensible if not commodious legroom, along with the well contoured seat must supply three teenaged adults with comfy but comfortable travel. chair gives a flat load floor when the one-touch release levers are operated.

Zoned climate controller gives a degree (actually, quite a few levels ) of heating/cooling flexibility and clean cabin air using filtration and Volvo's sterile Zone Interior Package, an advanced air-purging system.

Driving Dynamics

motors create lots of sense, being as responsive as a'four' nevertheless nearly as easy as a'six','' even though the smoothness bit is not as apparent using an oil burner.  Once warmed up, though, the D5 is a nice enough diesel, delivering brisk performance in concert with all the smooth-shifting six-speed Geartronic transmission, and which also has Sport mode and manual override.

Having originally believed the steering over-weighted, a few miles later it seemed to sense quicker and more responsive. Speed-dependent assistance is available as standard or an alternative, depending on version, using a user-selection facility.

In ordinary conditions the all-wheel driveway process is front-biased, using torque re-apportioned via the computer-controlled hydraulic clutch because readily available grip alters. Volvo's Immediate Traction is designed to assist with standing starts. Ride is very firm (possibly due to the BMW X3 having an XC60 benchmark) but gives car-like cornering and handling, although well-judged preliminary compliance takes the bite from many street imperfections.

The Volvo's City Safety helps avoid low-speed accidents; Collision Caution with Automobile Brake along with Adaptive Cruise Control using Distance Alert work at greater speeds; BUS reveals that your blind areas; DAC and LDW attempt to prevent you falling asleep or straight from lane; along with IDIS delays telephone calls while you cope with complex driving situations. programs may be had as well as Volvo's renowned security design and technology aided by Roll Stability Control, Hill Descent Control, Dynamic Stability and Traction Control, along with Trailer Stability Assist.  Oh, and there is Park Help...

Pulling Performance

fat delivers a fantastic perimeter to accommodate many appropriate caravans, and rectangular, straight-edged door mirrors provide a much better platform than many for towing mirrors.

The XC60 was shown to be brisk, turning in a 0-60mph period of 14.5 minutes despite first take-off being softened by the automated gearbox. . Hill starts were equally as trouble-free. The costume felt very unruffled in urban conditions, possibly due to the confidence of City Safety, and using a 30-50mph period of 6.1 sec was seldom in danger of holding traffic up. Normal car mode coped well, easily discovering itself in the right equipment at the right moment.

The steering could sometimes feel a bit weighty from tight, twisty metropolitan conditions but improved at higher speeds to turn into smooth, responsive and accurate, at which the Volvo felt in full control through strings of minor-road bends. On steep descents manual equipment selection may be useful, however, the powerful brakes with their various driver- assistance systems supplied reassurance.

In motorway speeds the XC60 tracked straight and true, though on a very windy evaluation day some buffeting was experienced, as was some enforced deviation offline out of large overtaking trucks and trainers.

Ride comfort in all conditions was firm, though seldom uncomfortably so, and the XC60 was able to damp out the caravan's bump reactions very efficiently above all but the worst ruts.
