The 2010 Camaro is among the few cars to come from the design studio looking very much like it's prototype. Rather than deliver an updated fifth generation version of the Camaro, the sometimes overused decorative theme was chosen, hearkening back into the style cues that made the automobile such a huge hit when it debuted in 1967. However,  Three Way Chevrolet Bakersfield Used Cars did a terrific job of evoking the flavor of yesteryear with modern creature comforts. However, how is it to drive the new 2010 Camaro?

Camaro RS

Various trim levels are available to make the automobile suit your preference, but most people will appear at one of two presently available versions: both the RS and SS variations. My very first test drive was using the six cylinder powered RS (for rally Sport) version. This V6 is a variant of the General Motors corporate engine that goes in many of their cars nowadays. With Direct Injection and other modern technology, this motor makes over 300 horsepower.  For reference, the last of this fourth generation Camaro's only made about 20 more horsepower, and that was with a V8.

In the Cockpit

Standard equipment on the 2010 Camaro is plentiful, but some materials are a bit tough on the eyes and also a bit less delicate to the touch for a car at that price point. The dark interior contrasts the thin foliage of light coming through the very cool looking, but difficult to see from windows. Some purpose is, sadly, forfeited in the name of form and selling more cars.

The RS could be the best price for most,  the normal independent rear suspension along with mild six cylinder motor leading to a mild front end with enough electricity to generate the RS a wonderful handling car. Autocrossers might prefer the RS for this reason. But what exactly the six lacks, besides a power bump to V8 territory, is that the kick in the pants sound and power of the corporate LS series motors installed in more expensive models. proceed to the the Camaro"King of the Hill".

Camaro SS

The Super Sport version jobs to remember the times of big block power. Chevrolet's website says this 6.2 liter V8 will get a real world 19 mph in the EPA test cycle. However, using 422 horsepower on tap, many will not be able to control themselves enough to see their best mileage. In reality, after forcing the SS, it was difficult to return it into the merchant. The SS does everything the RS does, however, with greater force. The treatment is somewhat compromised by the heavier engine, but also the suspension does a good job of reigning that in. If understeer become an issue, judicious (not unbridled, particularly with the SS) program of the throttle will help that independent back step outside and fix the vehicles' direction.

Conclusion

Having a mimimum of 300 horsepower along with a few impressive standard equipment, the 2010 Camaro has been enjoyable.  Check off the option box for that SS motor and you'll feel nostalgic when behind the wheel. Although external visibility is slightly compromised, there'll not be a mistake when you come down the street this can be anything but a Camaro. Considering all of this, it's not surprising that this automobile has got the status of a Consumer's Digest Best Buy.
