Just like its predecessor the C-Type, the D-Type Jaguar sports car was first|had been} constructed with the only goal of winning at Le Mans.

In February 1957, there was a serious fire in the Coventry factory which ruined five D-Types, jointly with essential jigs and gear, plus damage to the manufacturing line.

Consequently, this indicated the end of production of this D-Type sports automobile.
