In modern day parlance, when the Hyundai New Car Brand Genesis started in the 2008 North American International Auto Show, it almost rocked the home. The world had never seen a Hyundai like that before. For the first time in the brand's budget-car background, Hyundai wasn't taking on the big guns, and were somewhat smitten about it, because the Genesis was prepared to compete on a worldwide scale using the best luxury models, in a fraction of the cost.

Since the South Korean automaker came from the U.S. market, back in 1986, it's emphasized value. Hyundai generally promised features and capabilities like those of significant competitors, but at a significantly lower price. Now Hyundai is going upmarket, past the current Azera sedan, value remains a drawing card. Like several other several other  Hyundai models, the Genesis can be obtained at just what the firm calls"a far more accessible price point" than the European/Asian contest.

2 powertrains are offered: an Lambda 3.8-liter V-6 along with an all-new Tau 4.6-liter V-8. Working with continuously variable valve timing, the V-6 makes 290 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque.  Running on premium gasoline, Hyundai's new V-8 generates 375 horsepower, together with 333 pound-feet. With regular-grade gasoline, the V-8 makes 368 hp along with 324 pound-feet. An Aisin six-speed Shiftronic automatic transmission mates using the V-6 engine, while the V-8 receives a ZF six-speed automatic with Shiftronic manual control.  Hyundai says the V-8 model may accelerate to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Fuel economy is dependent upon the powertrain. has an EPA estimate of 18 mpg in city driving and 27 mpg on the highway.  Statistics for the V-8 drop to 17/25 mpg.

Hyundai says the Genesis comes with a larger cabin than the 5 Series or even E-Class, but reduced body structure burden. Genesis also guarantees more interior volume than BMW's 7 Series. Constructed on a 115.6-inch wheelbase, the Genesis Condo steps 195.9 inches long overall and stands 58.3 inches tall. Each measurement falls right in the center of the contest, in accordance with Hyundai. Estimated quantity totals 15.9 cubic feet.

The Genesis suspension comprises Amplitude Selective Dampers. Seldom shy about comparisons to superior motorcars, Hyundai states that technology also can be utilized for Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz versions. Like most Hyundai versions, the Genesis has standard Electronic Stability Control.  An eight-airbag complement comprises front and rear seat-mounted side-impact airbags, also roof-mounted side curtain airbags for all outboard occupants. Every single Genesis halts using all-disc antilock brakes. Alloy wheels hold standard 17-inch tires using the V-6 engine, 18-inch for your V-8.

Tested on a racetrack, the V-6 responded well, but the V-8 is clearly exceptional for all-out functionality - though hardly vital for most motorists. Resounding response yields a lot of passing power, and Hyundai's V-8 is as silent as the V-6. Brakes are more powerful with their impact may not be seen in daily driving. On the street, the V-8 automobile feels a bit smoother and better balanced, despite less-ideal fat loss.
