About the Driver

I'm coming from a 2005 Infiniti G35x loaded with every possible option so while I adjusted my expectations to get the reduced price ($22K with s-plan) I wasn't ready for the way in which the Mazda3 would blow me off.

I drive my cars assertively (sometimes assertively aggressive if there's such a thing) and can put this car through the motions during possession. Driving a car is an experience each time and I rely heavily on important driving/comfort aspects like acceleration, handling, ride, cabin noise, long term driving comfort and in automobile technology that will shape upcoming upgrades.

Note: You might notice a pretty hefty contrast in my very first|initial} impressions of the G35 into the Mazda 3 and that is largely because in part to the fact that I nearly bought the Mazda3 in 2005 but was offered an excellent rental deal on a 2005 G35x loaded for the same that I would pay to own the Mazda3.

Seemed like a good idea at the moment. Biggest regret of my life.

Now that you understand mepersonally, let's discuss why you are here: initial impressions!

First Impressions

There are lots of really impressive features in this car! I struggled for a long time with not being technologically current in my 2005 Infiniti and the Mazda 3  similar to an answer to my prayers. attributes

1) Remote Start - that I  can not believe how bad cool remote start really is. Manufacturers are now beginning to give remote start as an attachment that's installed at the port and I recommend it 200%. It is ideal for every  potential hot/cold day whenever you don't feel like running out from the weather to start the auto so it may warm up just to run back in the house and finish getting ready.

Remote start is something I could see myself not alive without ever and it was not a choice over the Infiniti so +1 to Mazda for supplying it. For the 2008.5 mid-year refresh, Mazda has incorporated the remote start into the regular important fobs so now you won't have two sets of control keys to use on one set.

2) Rain Sensing Wipers - If you have never seen it, you would not believe it. While driving home I didn't think the rain sensing wipers were functioning correctly because the stem seemed to be in the perfect position and it was raining quite hard. I fiddled with all the stem to get just a little bit and found that it was in its own"Off" position instead of"Auto". Once rotating the ending piece into the perfect position it functions quite nicely but I really don't think placing"Away" and"Automobile" inside a knob's twist off was the best idea on earth.

3) The Manual Leveling HIDs - that I|I still} don't know whether it's manual really. It is kind of manual and automatic. You move the switch up or down till you reach the amount you need (0 - 3) and the automobile adjusts the headlights to match that setting. The leveling headlights aren't gimmicky at all and were pretty helpful while driving through fog along with lifting the headlights to watch for deer/pedestrians across the face of the street. Another amazing feature the G35x has been missing.

4) Aux Input - This is the golden feature for me! For the longest time (since 2005) I have always desired a way to play my iPod in my car.  I can not even begin to count the amount of trips and meetings I've been overdue to while searching for a CD to burn so I didn't have to pay attention to the same|identical|exact} old crap from my car while driving there. In fact, I desired that the aux input so poor that I denied that the Mazda CX-7 when considering my next car purchase only based on its lack of the aux input and it was worth it ten times over. I really like being able to plug in my iPhone to the stereo and simply scroll through the playlists to find a list I'm feeling at the moment. It works easily and I couldn't be more ecstatic over this attribute.

5) The Ride - Most people will give me a puzzled look but I'm telling you that the 2008.5 Mazda3s GT includes a nicer ride than my 2005 Infiniti G35x. Not only does it ride but it's much quieter and it doesn't create the"Mothership" auto sick after I drive her in the car. Thumbs up all over!

So these are my top five favorite things about the car. Overall it's really just an encounter that brand new car buyers have to try and believe because it's extremely rare at that price point. I'm finally excited to drive different locations just to be in the car and I really like everything about it! In the event you don't own one, then buy one. If you have one, buy a 2008.5 model! The new trim, power driver's seat, gauges and all things in between are worth it.
