Hyundai introduced the Genesis in 2008 at the North American International Auto Show. Chris Hosford, Hyundai's United States spokesman, cited three main reasons to make Genesis a stand-alone brand: Genesis' extant seven years in the luxury car market was successful.

Hyundai says the Genesis includes a larger cabin compared to the 5 Series or E-Class, but lower body structure burden. Genesis also promises more interior volume compared to BMW's 7 Series. Built to a 115.6-inch wheelbase, the Genesis sedan measures 195.9 inches long and stands 58.3 inches tall. Each measurement falls right in the center of the contest, in accordance with Hyundai. Estimated quantity totals 15.9 cubic feet.

The Genesis suspension comprises Amplitude Selective Dampers. Tested to a racetrack, the V-6 responded well, but the V-8 is clearly superior for all-out functionality - though hardly critical for most drivers. Resounding response yields lots of passing power, and Hyundai's V-8 is at least as silent as the V-6. Brakes are stronger with their impact may not be seen in every day driving. On the road, the V-8 automobile feels somewhat smoother and better , despite less-ideal fat distribution.
