Since the South Korean automaker came from the U.S. market, back in 1986, it has highlighted value. Hyundai generally promised features and capabilities similar to those of significant competitions, but at a significantly lower price. Now that Hyundai is going boldly upmarket, beyond the existing Azera sedan, value is still a drawing card. Like any other several any other  Hyundai models, the Genesis can be obtained at just what the company calls"a much more accessible price point" than the European/Asian contest.

Two powertrains are offered: a Lambda 3.8-liter V-6 along with an all-new Tau 4.6-liter V-8. Working with continuously variable valve timing, the V-6 produces 290 horsepower and 264 pound-feet of torque.  Running on premium gasoline, Hyundai's new V-8 generates 375 horsepower, along with 333 pound-feet. With regular-grade gas, the V-8 makes 368 hp along with 324 pound-feet. partners using the V-6 engine, whereas the V-8 receives a ZF six-speed automatic with Shiftronic manual control.  Hyundai says the V-8 version could accelerate to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds. Fuel economy depends upon the powertrain. The V-6 engine gets an EPA estimate of 18 mpg in city driving and 27 mpg on the street.  Statistics for the V-8 fall to 17/25 mpg.

Hyundai says the Genesis includes a larger cabin than the 5 Series or even E-Class, but reduced body structure burden. Genesis also promises more interior volume than BMW's 7 Series. Built on a 115.6-inch wheelbase, the Genesis sedan measures 195.9 inches long and stands 58.3 inches tall. Each measurement falls directly in the middle of the contest, according to Hyundai. Estimated quantity totals 15.9 cubic feet.

The Genesis suspension comprises Amplitude Selective Dampers. Seldom bashful about comparisons to superior motorcars, Hyundai says that technology also is employed for Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz versions. many Hyundai versions, the Genesis has standard Electronic Stability Control.  An eight-airbag match comprises front and rear seat-mounted side-impact airbags, also roof-mounted side curtain airbags for all outboard occupants. Each Genesis halts using all-disc antilock brakes. Alloy wheels maintain conventional 17-inch tires using the V-6 engine, 18-inch for your V-8.

Indoors, the soft-touch instrument panel includes woodgrain accents. digital active head restraints.  Lexicon audio systems are readily available. Bluetooth hands-free mobile phone connectivity, XM satellite radio, and also USB/iPod auxiliary inputs are provided in every version. Anticipate a smooth ride on nice pavement, and adequate relaxation on some rougher stuff. But certain undulating surfaces may yield appreciable body motion. Steering feels somewhat mild but is reasonably accurate, with just a sign of reduced confidence from the occasional fast curve. Easy to drive, the Genesis usually tracks neatly and stays put in its lane. Chairs are very comfortably cushioned and finely fortified, providing great neck and back support. Tested on a racetrack, the V-6 reacted nicely, but also the V-8 is obviously exceptional for all-out performance - although hardly crucial for most drivers. Resounding response yields a lot of passing power, and Hyundai's V-8 is as silent as the V-6. Brakes are more powerful however, their impact might not be seen in daily driving. On the road, the V-8 automobile feels somewhat smoother and better , despite less-ideal weight loss.
