Even the 2010 Camaro is one of the few cars to come from the plan studio looking very much like it is prototype. Instead of deliver an updated fifth generation version of the Camaro, the sometimes overused decorative theme was selected, hearkening back to the design cues that made the car such a significant hit when it debuted in 1967. But  Gordon Chevrolet Used Cars did a terrific job of evoking the taste of yesteryear with modern creature comforts. But how is it to drive the newest 2010 Camaro?

Camaro RS

Various trim levels are offered to produce the car match your preference, but the majority of folks will appear at one of two presently available versions: the RS and SS variations. My first test drive was with the six cylinder powered RS (for rally Sport) version. This V6 is really a variant of the General Motors company engine that goes in most of their cars nowadays. With Direct Injection and other modern technology, this engine makes over 300 horsepower.  In this, the final of the fourth generation Camaro's only made around 20 more horsepower, which was having a V8.

From the Cockpit

Standard equipment on the 2010 Camaro is plentiful, but some materials are a bit tough on the eyes and also a bit less soft to the touch for a car in the price point. The dark inside contrasts the thin foliage of light coming from through the very cool looking, but difficult to see from windows. Some purpose is, sadly, forfeited in the name of form and selling more cars.

The RS could be the very best price for most,  the normal independent rear suspension and mild six cylinder engine leading to a mild front end with sufficient electricity to make the RS a excellent handling car. Autocrossers might prefer the RS for just this reason. But exactly what exactly the six lacks, besides a power bump to V8 land, is the kick in the pants power and sound of this corporate LS series engines installed in more expensive models. Without further ado, we move on the the Camaro"King of the Hill".

Camaro SS

The Super Sport version endeavors to remember the days of large block power. Chevrolet's website states this 6.2 liter V8 may find a true world 19 miles per gallon from the EPA test cycle. But with 422 horsepower on tap, so many will not be able to restrain themselves sufficient to see their very best mileage. In actuality, after forcing the SS, it was difficult to return it to the dealer. The SS does all the RS does, but with more force. The treatment is somewhat compromised with the heavier engine, however, also the suspension does a good job of reigning that in. If understeer become an issue, judicious (not unbridled, particularly with all the SS) application of the throttle will help that separate rear step outside and correct the vehicles' management.

Conclusion

With a mimimum of 300 horsepower and a few notable standard equipment, the 2010 Camaro is enjoyable.  Pay attention to the option box for that SS engine and you'll feel superhuman in front of the wheel. Although outward visibility is somewhat compromised, there will be no mistake when you come down the road this can be really anything but a Camaro. Considering all of this, it is not surprising that this vehicle has earned the status of a Consumer's Digest Best Buy.
