When the original Chrysler Convertible Cars For Sale was launched from the mid-80s, it created the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) as we know it today, a vehicle with eight or seven seats that drives like a car. It was such a hit that it shipped all automobile manufacturers, including the Japanese and Europeansback to the drawing boards to come up with their own MPV models.

Twenty five years on, with virtually every carmaker having its own interpretation of the Voyager, Chrysler has needed to continuously update its MPVs to maintain a lead from the segment that it created. The present Grand Voyager is the inaugural model and was launched from the late 90s. It had an outside facelift a couple of years ago, and this year it will get the revolutionary'Stow n Go' seats.

Flexibility has always been crucial to the appeal of this MPV, but removing the seats and finding somewhere to store it's an issue, especially in the Asian markets in which individuals don't often have garages. Before'Stow n Go', the Grand Voyager had little castors beneath their seats so that they might be wheeled about, but they were incredibly heavy to lift out of the car or truck.  The remedy is for seats that don't have to be raised out, but totally disappear in the ground.

In actuality, the disappearing third row seat isn't a new idea the original'96 Honda Odyssey had a third row seat that folded and turned right to a well from the ground, along with the Voyager adopts the idea. But it's the folding of the next row seats that's especially clever. After five simple steps, along with the tugging of many tabs and straps, the whole seat literally disappears to the ground without a trace. This is all the more impressive as the seat modification functions aren't compromised when vertical, it could both slide and recline.

The key of course, is to get a seat that folds to as compact a package as possible, and this is achieved by using the swab and backrest of equivalent length. This ends in a rather low backrest to get an otherwise comfy seat. This means that for most adults, so the headrest needs to be raised to block it from cutting to the center of their backs.

The mechanicals of this Grand Voyager remain mostly unchanged with a torquey 3.3-litre V6 making it feel well-powered and relaxed. Cruising is extremely effortless from the Chrysler, and there is an impressive absence of street - or - engine-noise. It's also very well-equipped with a roof-mounted DVD player and a lot of storage areas.

There is also an abundance of automation around the Grand Voyager.  The sliding back doors are power-operated, as is the tailgate, and so are the hinged rear windows.

Everything can be controlled by the driver's seat, which is extremely convenient. {The doors can also be opened and closed remotely {with|with all|using} the key fob, helpful on rainy days or when one's hands are complete. |} The integration of a Placing monitor screen to the rear view mirror is also very thoughtful - it is a surprise no one else has thought of doing so. Quite clearly, the folks at Chrysler aren't resting on their laurels, but have always added more and more suitable qualities to this MPV.

The only quirk inside this otherwise impressive MPV is that the whole steering columns, along with the stems, have been taken from a left-hand push automobile. This usually means the column gearshift is to the motorist's right, when in most cases it's operated by the left hand. Apart from that, the Grand Voyager continues to impress, and maintains its own name as the ultimate MPV, if size and price were no object.
