2017 Chrysler 300

When the first 2017 Chrysler 300 was launched at the mid-80s, it established the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) as we understand it now, a car with eight or seven chairs that drives like a car. It had been such a hit that it sent all car manufacturers, including the Japanese and Europeansback to the drawing boards to come up with their own MPV versions.

Twenty years on, using nearly every carmaker using its own interpretation of this Voyager, Chrysler has had to continuously update its MPVs to keep a lead in the segment that it created. The present Grand Voyager is that most demanding model and has been launched in the late 90s. It had an exterior facelift a couple of years back, and this year it receives the radical'Stow n Go' chairs.

Flexibility has always been crucial to the appeal of the MPV, but eliminating the chairs and finding a place to store it's an issue, especially in the Asian markets in which individuals do not frequently have garages. Before'Stow n Go', the Grand Voyager had little castors under their chairs so they might be wheeled about, however they were still incredibly heavy to lift out of the motor vehicle.  The remedy is for chairs which don't need to be raised out, but totally disappear into the ground.

Actually, the disappearing third row seat isn't a new idea the first'96 Honda Odyssey needed a third row bench that folded and flipped to a well in the ground, along with the Voyager adopts the idea. Nonetheless, it's the folding of the next row seats that's especially smart. After five easy steps, along with the tugging of many straps and tabs, the entire chair literally disappears to the ground without a trace. This is even more impressive since the chair adjustment functions aren't compromised when upright, it may both slide and recline.

The tip of course, would be to get a chair which folds to as compact a bundle as you can, and this is accomplished by using swab and backrest of equivalent length. This ends in a rather low backrest to get an otherwise comfy chair. This implies that for most adults, so the headrest has to be increased to block it from cutting to the middle of their backs.

The mechanicals of the Grand Voyager stay mostly unchanged with a torquey 3.3-litre V6 which makes it seem well-powered and relaxed. Cruising is extremely effortless in the Chrysler, and there's an impressive lack of road- or - engine-noise. It's also extremely well-equipped using a roof-mounted DVD player and lots of storage areas.

There is also an abundance of automation around the Grand Voyager.  Both the sliding back doors are power-operated, since is your tailgate, and so are the tufted back windows.

Everything can be controlled from the driver's chair, which is quite convenient. {The doors can also be opened and closed remotely {with|using all|using} the key fob, helpful on rainy days or if the hands are complete. |} The integration of a reversing monitor display to the rear view mirror is also very thoughtful - it is a surprise nobody else has thought about doing so. Quite obviously, the people at Chrysler aren't resting on their laurels, but have continually added more convenient qualities to the MPV.

The only quirk in this otherwise remarkable MPV is that the entire steering columns, together with the stems, have been removed from a left handed push car. This usually means the column gearshift is on the motorist's correct, when in most instances it's run by the left hand. Apart from that, the Grand Voyager continues to impress, also preserves its name as the supreme MPV, if size and price were no object.
