The V8 in the RS 5 produces 444 horsepower, and this will be 30 bhp over the FSI unit in the Audi R8. This is felt at 8250 rpm with 318 lb.-ft of torque kicking in at 4000 rpm. The car's acceleration in 0-62 mph is reached in 4.6 minutes before going up to an electronically limited top speed of 155 miles that may reach 174mph if derestricted. The acceleration is 0.2 minutes greater than at R8 however, the latter goes up to 186 mph. What did you expect? It's a Spyder anyhow.

For the first time, the specially strengthened DSG (Direct-Shift Gearbox) unit has emerged in an RS model. This is actually the seven-speed S-tronic transmission, which only refers to 2 clutches, 7 rates and quick changes. Another addition is Audi's all-wheel drive Quattro system which comes with a new type of middle metering that directs around 85 percent of the torque to the rear axle and 70 percent to the front. During regular driving the RS 5 distribution is 40/60 front to rear and you'll be able to turn the ESP system away completely. Even the RS6's Dynamic Ride Control adaptive damping system comes as standard and motorists can select between four driving styles along with a custom one such as in the A8. The car nonetheless doesn't come cheap at #57480, #5430 over the usual M3.
