When the original 1990 Chrysler Cars premiered from the mid-80s, it created the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) because we understand it today, a vehicle with seven or eight chairs that drives just like a car. It had been such a hit that it sent all automobile manufacturers, including the Japanese and Europeansback to the drawing boards to come up with their own MPV versions.

Twenty five years on, with almost every carmaker having its own interpretation of their Voyager, Chrysler has needed to continuously update its MPVs to keep a lead in the segment that it's created. The current Grand Voyager is that second-generation model and was launched in the late 90s. It had an exterior facelift two decades back, and this season it receives the revolutionary'Stow n Go' chairs.

Flexibility has always been crucial to the allure of the MPV, but eliminating the chairs and locating a place to store it is an issue, particularly in the Asian markets where individuals do not often have garages. Before'Stow n Go', the Grand Voyager had little castors under their chairs so that they might be wheeled around, but they were incredibly heavy to lift out of their car or truck.  The remedy is for chairs which don't need to be lifted out, but entirely disappear in the ground.

In actuality, the vanishing third row seat is not a new thought the original'96 Honda Odyssey had a third row bench that folded and turned right into a well in the ground, and the Voyager adopts the thought. Cruising is very effortless in the Chrysler, and there's an impressive absence of street - or - engine-noise. It's also exceedingly well-equipped with a roof-mounted DVD player and tons of storage areas.

There's also an abundance of automation around the Grand Voyager.  The sliding rear doors are power-operated, as is your tailgate, and are the hinged rear windows.

Everything can be controlled from the driver's chair, which is very convenient. {The doors can also be opened and closed remotely {with|with all|using} the key fob, helpful on rainy days or when the hands are complete. |} The use of a Placing monitor screen into the rear view mirror is also quite thoughtful - it's a surprise no one else has thought of doing this. Quite obviously, the people at Chrysler aren't resting on their laurels, but also have continually added more convenient qualities to the MPV.

The only quirk inside this otherwise remarkable MPV will be that the entire steering columns, together with the stems, have been taken from a left handed push car. This usually means the column gearshift is on the motorist's correct, when in most cases it is operated by the left hand. Aside from that, the Grand Voyager continues to impress, also maintains its own title as the supreme MPV, if size and price were no object.
